The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

As the holidays roll around at Leonardtown High School, students begin to get excited for all the traditions, family, and festivities. With many different holidays to celebrate, this time of the year is always full of cheer.

“I love just the thought of spending time with my family and I especially love when everyone is in a good mood,” says junior Tiffany Filomena. Most students agree that the best part of the holidays is relaxing with family and enjoying good food. Thanksgiving break is short but sweet for many. With good food and often traditions to look forward to, many students are anxious for break to start.

“My favorite part of Thanksgiving break is Black Friday shopping! It’s a tradition for me and my grandma to get up early to shop,” says junior Hannah Chi. Traditions are definitely a big part of the holidays. Every family has traditions, which is what makes this time of year special.

Right after Thanksgiving, the winter holidays begin. Stores are already stocked up on Christmas supplies and needs for all holidays. Every holiday, from Christmas to Kwanzaa, has something in stores for shoppers.

Junior Sarah Adler says, “My family celebrates both Hanukah and Christmas, which is always a fun mix. We have a Menorah and a Christmas tree!” No matter what one celebrates, this time of year brings excitement and happiness.

Holidays are important for family and remembering traditions that bring everyone together. Everyone has something different to look forward to and that’s what the holidays are all about.
