Looking for ways to enjoy the summer without having to leave Southern Maryland? Right here in St. Mary’s County, there are many fun things to do for everyone. Here are a few things you could do this Summer!
The first thing to do is to enjoy our water spots! We have
beautiful places like Point Lookout Park, Myrtle Point, Elms Beach, or even the Wharf. These waters are perfect for tanning, swimming, kayaking, fishing, and most of all, relaxing. You could even have a picnic on the beach!
The second thing to do is to go to a fair, festival, or market!
We have many here, like the St. Mary’s County fair, farmer markets, the SOF market, and we even have a beach party in Leonardtown Square! You can enjoy music, food trucks, crafts, and many games!
The third thing to do is to get outside! We have many hiking spots, one being Greenwell State Park. We have many places you can bike through. We also have many parks where you can play any sport you would like!
The fourth thing to do is to go get some food! Maryland is
known for its crabs, and during the summertime, seafood restaurants are a great hit. You can also go and get ice cream from Bruster’s or The Salted Scoop!
The fifth thing you could do is enjoy a boat ride on the 4th of July to see fireworks. You can watch from a boat or go to St Mary’s College to get close to a beautiful fireworks display!
The last thing you could enjoy is exploring the local historic sights! Our history dates back to 1634, when St. Mary’s City became Maryland’s first capital. There are buildings, tour guides, and you can learn all about our history!
