When the warm summer breeze turns into a chill in the air and the sunscreen in our hands turns into a pumpkin chai latte we know that fall is right around the corner, and not only do the leaves change colors but so do the fashion trends. The stubborn yet spontaneous Maryland weather may not be easily predictable, but through thorough trend studying and fashion knowledge you can trust my 2025 fall fashion forecast. Here’s 5 fall trends that are dominating this season.
Ugg’s
Originally very popular in the 2000s, Ugg’s have been having a resurgence throughout the 2020s (like many other 2000s fashion trends), and will continue to do so this year as the trend continues. Popular styles include the Tazz/ Tasman, discoquette’s, classic mini, platform minis and the newest release- Bea Mary Jane Ugg’s. The style of Ugg you get really depends on your personal preference, as the brand overall is very versatile in how trendy it is so any choice will fit in with the fashion this year.
Suede
Suede is also making a comeback this fall with hints of 70s-esque fringe and/or embroidery appliques. Examples include suede jackets, suede handbags, suede boots, and even full suede lace up pants. Not only does suede typically come in the perfect warm brown for fall it also provides texture to outfits while still allowing for a sophisticated look.
Knit Sweaters
Of course everyone knows a cozy knit sweater is crucial as the weather gets colder, and that is no different this year. Knit sweaters are a staple that are almost never “out of style”. Since bohemian style has been taking over this year you can expect to see more cream or brown colors.
Maxi Denim Skirts
Opposed to the mini denim skirts that were trending earlier this year, long denim skirts provide a comparable look while still keeping relatively warm. This fall, long denim skirts will be a staple as they are incredibly easy to dress up or down. Maxi denim skirts also tie into the revival of past styles as mentioned earlier, such as y2k styles and 90’s.
Statement Belts
Belts are no longer just used in necessity, but also as standout accessories to spice up any fall fit. Specifically western style belts with chunky details have been all the rage and will continue to do so throughout the changing seasons. Whether it’s over a dress, skirt, or pant, I can see a fun belt being a big part of this fashion season.
Overall, have fun with your style this fall! Take inspiration and put your own spin on trends to make them as unique as you. Try to keep our crazy changing temperatures in mind as you fashion yourself up for the day. Stay cozy, warm, and fabulous!
