The German Bundesliga is the highest soccer competition in Germany. The Bundesliga has 18 teams with a system of demotion and promotion. The first 2 teams are qualified for the highest international competition; the UEFA Champion League.

The most successful team is FC Bayern Munich with 26 National League titles, 18 National cup titles and 5 Champions League titles.

The games are always on the weekends. Usually the teams playing on Fridays are the weaker teams because they didn’t play under the week international. On Saturdays, there are 5 games at the same time and than later on Saturday is the top game of the week. There are 2 games on Sundays with poor teams.

The top scorer of the current season is Dortmund’s striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with 23 goals in 23 games. The best scorer of all time is Gerd Mueller with 365 goals in 427 games. He played for Bayern Munich from 1965 to 1979.

The Bundesliga was created in 1933 with 16 teams and was called “Reichsliga,” but during World War II they stopped playing and shut it down. In 1962, the German National team lost against Chile at the Word Cup and they decided to create the “Bundesliga,” a division of the best 18 clubs in Germany. It hasn’t changed a lot from the start; they still play with 18 teams and it’s still the highest class in German soccer.

Internationally, the Bundesliga is one of the best 3 leagues worldwide and they always have 4 teams running in the Champions League. The Bundesliga is famous for their young, talented players, and their champion wins.
