Get your costume ready and empty pillowcases to stock up on that sweet candy. Now that Halloween is around the corner, the ghosts and goblins get to come out to play, and you can join in right alongside them. But it’s important to know how to make your night a treat rather than a trick. We all know that it’s dark out when trick-or-treating and the last scare anyone wants is to trip over a curb, so here are some ways to prevent this mishap as well as keep you protected from any drivers.
In the words of the professional Corporal Davis, “Stay on sidewalks. Use extreme caution when crossing the road; if there is no crosswalk, vehicles have the right of way and may not see you. When darkness falls, use glow sticks or something to illuminate yourself while trick-or-treating.” Also, even if you dress up as Batman, you aren’t, so don’t work alone. Grab a buddy, as not only does it keep you safer, but it also adds more entertainment to the night to be with a friend. Heck, you could even do matching costumes.
After you clear all the houses in your neighborhood, check your candy. It may sound like a common Halloween scary myth, but after you get your precious haul of candy, be sure to check it for any tampering. (Also, nobody wants random open pieces of candy in their bag. It gets sticky and makes a mess and is just plain gross.) These are obvious tips that easily are forgotten, so make sure to be on your best Boo-havior and have a spooktacularly safe Halloween.
