The Fall Guy: Review

This spring, lots of critically acclaimed movies have been released. Films such as Kingdom of The Planet of The Apes, Challengers, Monkey Man, Abigail, and The Idea of You have all been crushing it in the theaters. However, the one that stands out the most is The Fall Guy.

The Fall Guy features Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt as the main characters. Ryan Gosling’s character, Colt, is a popular stuntman for popular movie star Tom Ryder (Aaron-Taylor Johnson). Colt suffers a grave incident during one of his stunts and has to back off from the scene. He hides away, which creates a divide between him and Emily Blunt’s character, Jody. There was a romance brewing between them, and Jody was distraught when Colt got hurt.

However, when Colt is in hiding, Tom Ryder’s agent, Gail, calls him. She tells him that Tom Ryder is in a new movie that Jody is directing and that Jody specifically asked him to be there. Colt immediately springs at the offer, and gets on a plane to Australia immediately, where they are filming. However, when Colt gets there, he finds out that not only does Jody not want Colt there, but Tom is in danger. Gail sends Colt on a mission to save Tom while also being his stunt double in the movie.

Throughout the movie, we see a romance bloom between Colt and Jody. While this is happening, hilarity ensues since Colt is trying to find Tom without anyone knowing. He uses his stuntman abilities to fight others, and his charm to try to get back together with Jody. There are lots of twists and turns, ones that had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. And of course, Ryan Gosling adds his signature goofiness into the movie, making it all more enjoyable. This was definitely one of my favorite films I’ve seen this year, and I hope if you see it, you enjoy it too!
