The Disney movie Frozen came out right after Thanksgiving break of 2013. It was based on a classic story, The Snow Queen, by Hans Christian Andersen. I went to see the movie over winter break and I will be writing the summary on what the movie is about.

The two main characters are Anna, the joyous and energetic sister, and Elsa, the shy and insecure sister who possesses the powers of snow and ice. They used to be close when they were young until Elsa struck her sister Anna by accident while playing one night. A magical king troll healed Anna and erased her memories of the accident and knowing Elsa’s powers.  As Elsa was locked away in the castle by her parents, she wasn’t close with Anna anymore. After several years, on the night of the ball after her coronation, she revealed her powers to her people by accident after she got into an argument with Anna. Upset and insecure, she ran away and caused a major blizzard by accident, which would eventually turn into an eternal winter. It was up to Anna, along with her new companions Olaf the snowman, Krisoff the mountain man, and Sven,                             the reindeer, to get Elsa back home and stop the major blizzard.

This movie is definitely one of the best Disney movies of 2013. Even though it is animated and it came out not to long ago, this movie feels like a classic Disney movie. It combines memorable songs and humorous moments, making it enjoyable for all ages. My favorite song in the movie is “Let it Go,” because it has a good, relatable message behind it and the scenes during the song are fantastic and realistic.

Liberty Williams, a junior at LHS, watched the movie herself and said, “I think the movie Frozen is absolutely the best Disney movie (besides The Lion King of course). It is the first Disney movie that says that you don’t need a man to be happy as Anna and Elsa find the love of family can pull you out of your darkest hour. I loved the movie Frozen!”

The movie overall is enjoyable for the whole family. I would give it a 9.5/10 because of the wonderful storyline and the message behind it. If you haven’t seen it yet, then I recommend going to a nearby movie theatre and watching the movie for yourself. You will not be disappointed and it’s a movie that you will remember for the rest of your life.
