Looking for a good scare to keep you up a few nights? Well, this movie will do the job. The great thing about this movie is that one could watch it without seeing the other three. The storyline is relatively basic and easy to follow. In this movie, it focuses on a suburban family who experience extremely strange events in their neighborhood when a mother and her child move in next door. The main girl, played by Kathryn Newton, is named Alex. Alex is a teenage girl who loves her younger, adopted brother, Wyatt, very dearly. When the new neighbors move in, the young boy named Robbie stays with the suburban family and begins to befriend Wyatt. Alex notices early on that there is something off and strange about this Robbie character so she and her friend set up hidden cameras around her house and that’s when she starts to learn about what this Robbie kid is all about.

The scariest part about this movie is the fact that there isn’t a lot of background music or sound effects. It really does look like a home video or a surveillance recording. The silence increases a lot of anticipation and anxiety. Everyone in the movie theaters actually screamed their heads off in several parts, so it is safe to say that the trailer is pretty accurate in terms of audience reaction. There is a lot of “jump out at you” kind of scares which makes people even more nervous because they know that there is going to be something that pops out.

Katie Padgett definitely agrees and says, “This movie almost made me cry. It really is pretty scary. I’m not sure if it’s better than the other movies, but it might keep you up a few nights. This movie is definitely a must-see for a good Halloween scare.”
