Seniors, only 3 more months left until graduation! Do I even have to remind you what is next? The week every senior is waiting for-that sweet taste of freedom and vacation-sweek! For those of you not familiar, sweek or more commonly known as “senior week,” is a vacation seniors plan to go on right after graduation. There are no rules to senior week, you can go wherever you please, but the most commonly picked place is Ocean City! Junior Brad Oosterink said, “For my senior week I plan on going with my friends to Bethany Beach in Delaware; Ocean City is too basic.” Some students travel even farther, like student Joy Dietrich who is going to Spain!

Some of you may be wondering. what do you do at sweek? Well, that is completely up to you and your friends and where you all end up going! Make sure you reserve your hotel as soon as possible, because rooms are being booked even now. This is a week to make memories of a lifetime, but it’s also important to stay safe. Bring sunscreen, and drink lots of water.. Senior, Jack Getty said, “Don’t be like my brother’s friend who went to sweek and got 3rd degree sunburns from not wearing sunscreen.” Being safe at night is also important. Not everyone will be as safe as you, and there could be drunk drivers, so always look both ways before crossing the road. Another thing to keep in mind is the law. Underage drinking is illegal. According to CBS Baltimore, in 2013 there were 600 drug arrests and 400 underage drinking citations during senior week. Do not be another one of those statistics. If you’re having troubles with packing or booking a hotel, try asking a senior from last year, or your parents for help. Have fun seniors and remember to stay safe!
