As the fall season comes back around as all ways, it’s time to defrost our favorite fall T.V. shows. My personal favorite is The Gilmore Girls, as we all know, Rory Gilmore is an academic weapon, and as it is PSAT season for our sophomores, I thought it would be nice to go over some study tips for this school year and upcoming season.
Rory has dreams of going to Harvard, to achieve that she has to study as if she is a Harvard student. Rory makes a strict personalized study schedule, takes effective and extensive notes, and much much more. Let’s start with the basics of everything.
During the day, make a little checklist of things you need to study, work on, and things that are for homework. After you get all of your tasks written down, make sure to put them in order from most important to least important. By doing this, you can effectively prioritize your time making sure you get the most out of your time.
To perfect a study schedule first you need to find a block in your everyday schedule that you can put off at least an hour to study, more if you have more to study. Move around, rearrange, anything to get that important study time! Once you have this time to study you need to find a quiet place to study that you feel comfortable sitting down for a while in. A desk with this is preferred. I would recommend our school’s library, you can sign up to come in during lunch, for a quiet and relaxinging study area. If that’s not for you, I would go to our local office house The social! Get a table, bring your stuff and drink some delicious coffee.
Last but not least, to ensure that you continue this throughout your school year, set up awards or incentives for yourself. For example, after you turn in five different assignments, you can buy yourself something you’ve been wanting! If you do not want to buy it yourself, work it out with your parents so that they get it for you. This will show them that you are taking initiative and staying on top of your grades. Who knows, in the future this may get you something you want without having to do any work.
Good luck Raiders with this school year, I wish you all nothing but all A’s! Remember, your grades do not define you, as long as you are showing effect, that is all that matters.
