Throughout the halls and during classes people are talking about Winter break. Frequently someone will say, “I can’t wait for break!” So what are people doing for break? For some, it is a time to be with family and to relax from all the stresses of school. For others it’s the time of their favorite holidays: Christmas, Hanukah, and Kwanza. Jonny Menges, a junior at Leonardtown High School says, “I can’t wait for Christmas break! I’m really ready for some time off.” This year, students have a full two weeks off from tests and studying.

            During these two weeks, many Leonardtown students are going to various places all over the country! Some people will use this time as family time, others will use it to take vacations, and even more will just stay home for the holidays. Michael Russell, a junior at Leonardtown High school, says, “I’m staying home because I have wrestling practice.” Some interesting places that people are going this break include Seven Springs to go skiing, international cruises, and Florida. Jonny Menges is going “to Pennsylvania to visit family.” Along with many others, Quy Bao Nguyen, a junior at Leonardtown High School, says he is also going “to Pennsylvania to visit family.” No matter where people are going or what they are doing, Winter break should be a good break from reality.
