First Friday: an event that brings attention to the public to downtown Leonardtown. It’s an event where people gather and just hang out with friends and have fun on the first Friday every month. This event is  a chance for Leonardtown’s local businesses to promote themselves within this event because after years of new businesses arising  on Three Notch Road, Leonardtown business has quickly died down. This event usually happens on the first Friday every month (so they try) but if it’s not on a Friday then it’s usually on a Saturday.

What you usually see are people at pubs drinking and having fun with family and friends and co-workers.  There are eople walking, talking, relaxing, and listening to The Hot Toddies playing their music, just enjoying this event as it unfolds. This is a place for the young and the old to have fun and relax from everyday expectations. As my own recommendation I suggest to go to Ye Olde Towne Café to try out their popular Reuben sandwich and to top it off,  try out their wonderful Apple Crumb Cheesecake. It’s so good that you would want more (I’m not kidding even I want more of that cheesecake)! If you are an artist you can look at the art gallery near the Best Western Plus on Park Avenue. There are wonderful paintings on display that goes with our wonderful views of our beautiful nature, which we have. You can look at Annie Compton’s wonderful oil painted pictures of the different parts of the eastern shore. Or if you’re trying to find something more unique you could look at modified bras that were changed into art. There was one that I really liked it was an owl-look-a-like-bra; they were all so funny and very creative. With all of these different attractions, there was a very small  amount of people trickling in and out so in a sense First Friday it was pretty much a success. Even though I would like to promote this kind of event. I would like you all to at least take 3-4 hours off your “busy-monthly-schedule”.

If you really like something out of this world you should  get that Reuben sandwich and that Apple Crumb Cheesecake. Everything from First Friday is out of this world. So come on down and have fun with everyone and relax from all of your hard work.
