St. Mary’s College of Maryland is a liberal arts public honors college located in St. Mary’s City, Maryland. The college was found back in 1840 and it is one of the only two public honors colleges in the nation. The campus size is 361 acres and has a rural setting. It has over 30 majors and minors and includes a Master of Arts in Teaching Graduate Program. Around 1,900 students currently attend the school and most of them are undergraduates. St. Mary’s College of Maryland has a lot to offer as a liberal arts public honors college.

St. Mary’s College of Maryland has an acceptance rate of 72%. It only has an early decision and regular decision process only. Their average GPA is a 3.5. The average SAT score is 1800 to 1900 and the average ACT score is 27. Since it is one of the nation’s top liberal arts colleges, you will need to have strong grades and test scores in order to be admitted.

There are many things to do on campus at St. Mary’s College of Maryland. You can go sailing in the river the entire day for example. You can also go bike riding or hiking. There is a movie theater, which it is called the Cole Cinema, where you can watch movies for free.  There are many extracurricular activities on campus like Student Government, Circle K, Sailing, Basketball, Photography Club, Anime Club, and more. The school is a part of the NCAA III athletic conference so you can play competitive sports. You will never be bored since there are different types of clubs for everyone.

With a student-faculty ratio of 11:1, St. Mary’s College of Maryland has 64.5% of classes with 20 or less students. The most popular majors they have are Biology, English, Psychology, Economics, and Political Science/Government. The average first year retention rate is 87% and the average four year graduation rate is 71%. St. Mary’s College of Maryland has one of the highest graduation rates in the state of Maryland. The gender distribution is 40% male and 60% female. With around 1,900 students enrolled at the school, 87% of them live on campus.

There are a number of campus services to students on campus. This includes health services, tutoring, and a women’s center. There is also security services and campus safety 24 hours a day in case you feel unsafe on campus. Only half of the students at St. Mary’s College of Maryland actually have cars on campus. The cost for parking is $100 per school year, but it is $50 for the Spring or Fall semester only. They only have shuttle buses at the beginning and end of each semester that takes students to or from the airport.
