Trivia Crack Review

Shane Martin, Senior Staff Writer

If you haven’t heard of this game right now, you must have been living under a rock. Trivia Crack is the new “Flappy Bird”; you can’t go anywhere without hearing people talk about playing this game.

Background:

Trivia Crack is made by an Argentina-based mobile-games company called Etermax. They released the game in October of last year.  Trivia Crack launched in America and 4 other countries from the app store in November 2014. It became the most downloaded game in December 2014 and still remains number one at the time this article was written. Trivia Crack is so popular that it has its own game show and board game.

Gameplay:

Trivia Crack is a game that tests your knowledge, or like “some people”,test the knowledge of the people around you in six different categories; Geography, Science, History, Sports, Art, Entertainment, and the Crown. The goal is to spin the wheel, answer three questions right to receive a crown, or land on the crown to answer a question of any of the six categories and collect all characters from each category  before your opponent does. If you get a question wrong, then it’s  your opponents turn. This continues on until a player gets all six characters or until one person forfeits.

Answering the Question:

When answering the question of the category that you have landed on, you have 30 seconds. The question is either written by the company or might have been written by another user. It has four answers to choose from but only one is correct. If you are stuck or running out of time, then you can choose from four different boosts that can help you; these include extra time, which gives you an extra 15 second bomb which eliminates two other answers, skip, which allows you to skip the question and receive another one, and double chance, which gives you another chance to answer.

Cool Features:

Trivia Crack is more than just your ordinary free game; it’s a fun social game. Trivia Crack can be connected to your Facebook,  which allows you to play with a whole variety of friends. As I mentioned earlier anyone can make up questions, making the game diverse and not repetitive, which makes people think instead of seeing the same questions over and over. If there is something wrong with your question, you can report it. You can also earn up to 51 achievements in game. To make the game interesting, you can challenge your friend and take one of their characters, but you’re risking giving up one of your characters you have earned if you lose the challenge.  Each player receives the same questions as the other player and gets one question from each category. Whoever wins gets to keep their character and gets the other player’s character. You can also chat with the other player. The app tells you which is your strongest category and how many questions you have answered.

The Verdict:

As an owner of Trivia Crack, it is a really fun game that tests your knowledge. It gets very competitive and I like to use the chat feature to talk smack sometimes, just for fun. Anyone who wants to test how much they really know or challenge their friends to a game of wits, should definitely get this free game. If you are someone that does not like trivia or who doesn’t like to wait for someone for their turn in games, then I would not recommend it. On a scale of 1-10 I would give this game a 9 out of 10.
